Over the past week, the Moree Christian School year nine and 10 class have been hard at work at various jobs completing work experience from Monday, December 2 to Friday, December 6. I was fortunate enough to complete my week at The Moree Champion.

I had an incredibly short list of jobs I was considering to do for work experience, but the one that seemed to be highlighted the most for me was trying journalism at The Moree Champion.
Throughout my time here I had the pleasure of working with the talented pair of journalists Sophie Harris and Jem Nash. They taught me the ropes of journalism and opened my eyes to this crazy world of the newspaper business I would have never expected.

It was a great experience interviewing people, going around to different events during the week and recording information as well as taking photos. But also just being able to see your own journalist work in the news. Both online and in the paper.
A definite highlight of my week would be when I went with Jem to the Adam Marshall conference where we got to take photos and witness how he was talking about a new chapter for Moree with the new Special Activation Precinct coming soon.
Having completed the week and being able to reflect on what I have done, I would recommend the job to any student considering what they could do for work experience. You meet great people, learn so much about a new industry and it challenges you to do so much more than you initially thought you could.
In the end, it was an unforgettable joyride that I'll always remember. Being a journalist is definitely something I would put on a list of things I may want to do in the future.
