Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall visited the units on Tuesday, February 26 to announce the $16,200 in state government funding that will go towards replacing the kitchens in eight of the units, four in the old block at the front and four in the brick units.
The four kitchens in the older block date back to the 1950s and 1960s, proving a real need for the upgrades.
The new kitchens will be much larger, extending them along the walls an providing residents with much more bench space.
The volunteer committee that takes care of the Moreena Units are also putting in $10,000 of their own money to go towards the replacement kitchens.
"So in total, $26,200 is being spent upgrading or replacing the kitchens in eight of the units here and that's a project they've wanted to do for some time," Mr Marshall said.

The units are a low cost option for some of Moree's older residents, with low rent and no electricity or gas bills to pay for.
"The committee does such a terrific job, a volunteer committee, providing accommodation for 30 residents in Moree," Mr Marshall said.
"This accommodation is really important and you know that it's important because they're always full and they've always got a waiting list to get in.
"$16,200 might not seem like a lot of money but these guys make it go a long way.
"It's a very good outcome for the committee and the residents."
