Opportunities for Moree workers and businesses to share in Inland Rail benefits

Crunch time to get involved in Inland Rail with job opportunities aplenty

The first sod of soil was turned on Friday, marking the beginning of construction of the Narrabri to North Star section of the Inland, so now is the time for Moree suppliers and job seekers to find out how they can get involved in the $693 million project.

Earlier this month, Trans4m Rail was awarded the contract to deliver construction of the first phase of work for this section, which involves the upgrade of 171 kilometres of existing rail line between Narrabri and North Star.

Trans4m Rail is now looking to appoint local sub-contractors and workers for certain parts of the construction works and next week will be holding information sessions at North Star, Moree and Narrabri for locals to learn more about regional employment and supply opportunities.

Moree mayor Katrina Humphries is urging locals to make the most of the economic boom that is about to hit the Moree Plains by businesses and job seekers doing what they can to put their best foot forward.

"The Moree region is filled with passionate suppliers and amazing talent providing a level of service second to none," she said.

"Locals need to grab this opportunity with both hands - Inland Rail is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

"With the recent announcement of Trans4m Rail as the tier one contractor, it's now crunch time to get involved."

Cr Humphries encourages local suppliers and job seekers to register their interest for one of the three Moree sessions on December 1.
