Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall has announced an additional $57,480 in state government funding to construct the new building.

This takes the total amount provided to the Moree Showground through the NSW Showground Stimulus Fund (SSF) to $372,554.

Mr Marshall said the new cattle shed would replace the former dilapidated building which was demolished in May this year, due to its poor condition.

"If there is one thing a showground can't go without it's a sturdy, high quality cattle shed," he said.

"The old shed was deemed structurally unsound during an audit, with significant termite and storm damage making it unsafe for users.

"To ensure termites are not a problem in future, the new shed will be completely made of steel, with three bays divided by colorbond walls where exhibitors will tie-up.

"The Land Managers have salvaged the tie-rails and gates from the former shed for use in the new facility, which has helped to reduce the coast of the build.

"All up, 35 cattle will be able to be tied-off at any time, which means plenty of space for entries come judging time.

"As has been the case with all the works recently undertaken at Moree Showground, local building contractors will be brought on to deliver the project, which is more great news for Moree's tradies."

Mr Marshall said the Moree Showground would play a big role in Moree's recovery from COVID-19 and the drought.

"No matter the size or type of event, More Showground is now ready and capable of welcoming it," he said.

"From the new kitchen in the grandstand hall to the upgraded road surface and amenities, nearly all the key facilities on ground have been improved to facilitate large scale agricultural, equine and motor-sport events.

"Tourism and sport are both important drivers of the Moree economy, and so if we have a venue which is attractive for these types of events that means more people visiting town, spending money and seeing the local sites."
