The historical society received a $5000 volunteer grant from the Commonwealth government to purchase a lawn mower and vacuum cleaner to help with the upkeep of the new Moree Museum, which is being established at the old Lands building in Frome Street.
Federal Member for Parkes Mark Coulton recently paid a visit to the museum to see how it was progressing.
"This volunteer grant is about rewarding the hard work and generosity of our volunteers, of which there are many right around the Parkes electorate," he said.
Moree and District Historical Society president Stephen Ritchie said the federal government grant was very welcome, with the historical society relying on financial and in-kind support to get the museum up and running.
"Any other contributions are more than welcome," Mr Ritchie said.
