A roomful of some of Moree's female movers and shakers were left inspired and encouraged on Friday, after hearing from three of our very own inspirational ground-breakers as part of International Women's Day celebrations.

A total of 55 women came together to enjoy breakfast while listening to a panel of three of Moree's ground-breakers - Margi Kirkby from Gwydir Grove Olives, local designer and dressmaker Melinda O'Donoghue and Gwydir Valley Irrigators Association executive officer Zara Lowien - at Brooker Trading Co on Friday morning.
The Ground Breakers event, organised by GRO Events' Dimity Smith, aimed to celebrate Moree's trailblazing women for International Women's Day and NSW Women's Week.

"The theme for International Women's Day this year is #eachforequal and I wanted to showcase women that have been ground breakers and have been doing business for a while," Ms Smith said.
"It was more about celebrating them and their knowledge and experience."
Ms Smith said each of the three panelists - Margi, Melinda and Zara - were amazing.
"It was a diverse mix of different ages and different experiences but they were equally inspiring," she said.
"They were so articulate and all about giving back.
"All three are so excited about women in Moree."
There was plenty of positivity to come from the day, with all women leaving with thoughts of what they can do to not only give back to the community, but what they can do to welcome other women coming to town.
Ms Smith herself is a newcomer to Moree, but said she has received nothing but support since she has arrived in town.
She has recently started GRO Events, which is all about delivering events for people and businesses who want to connect with rural and regional audiences.
"I want to try and improve opportunities regionally; it's something I'm hugely passionate about," Ms Smith, a trained psychologist who previously ran Savvy Birds in Tamworth, said.
"The idea is to build opportunities for Moree and the surrounding region."
The Ground Breakers event was GRO Events' first event in Moree and Ms Smith said it couldn't have been better. In fact, it sold out twice.
"It was really good. There were so many awesome girls; the room was full of lovely women," she said.
"It makes me very excited about Moree.
"I've had amazing feedback; people said they thought it would be good, but didn't think it would be as good as it was."
Ms Smith would like to thank Gina from Brooker Trading Co for the delicious food, Mungindi's Clare Warby from Luxe and Humble for help styling the event, and sponsors ADAMA and Cloud9 Skin and Beauty, who provided mini facial vouchers. Ms Smith also interviewed Cloud9's Jecca Baynes during the morning.
