Sock It To Suicide is a White Wreath event where anyone or any staff can wear brightly coloured socks to work for the entire third week of October to raise vital funds to improve suicide prevention and knowledge.
This year Pius X hosted a barbecue sausage sizzle last and a small stall at the front of Woolworths last Friday, October 18 to sell hand tie dyed socks and raised $1,001 which will be donated to White Wreath.
There is lots of evidence that suicide rates in Indigenous communities are increasing.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suicide rates are six times greater than non-Indigenous suicide rates.
Pius X would like to thank everyone for their support on Friday from people buying socks to those buying a delicious sausage sandwich or just donating money to a great cause.
