Moree's junior touch football competition commenced last night, with more than 100 children attending the opening afternoon of the program.

The program for seven to 17-year-olds is centred around promoting healthy lifestyles, with all players required to participate in a workshop prior to hitting the field.
After the workshop, the children were split into teams and the games began, with plenty of smiling faces and teamwork occurring across all games.
"The kids enjoyed themselves, the parents loved it. Overall from the committee to the kids it was a good day for us," Junior Touch Committee secretary Russell Cook said.
Mr Cook said the large number of children who turned up for the first session was great to see.

"For our first session coming back, having so much support from the community and parents and having that many kids come and sign up was amazing," he said.
"The committee loved that the community got behind them and got involved with it all."
There is still time for new participants to sign up, with registrations open for two weeks.
The program provides the perfect balance of health and lifestyle education and fun, physical activity, with children having the opportunity to learn from a lot of the services that are available to them.
"We're hoping they'll learn a lot from the different organisations," Mr Cook said.
"We're excited for this comp to be back up and running again. Getting the kids involved in a sport that they'll surely love and getting them to be active."
The junior touch program is on every Wednesday at Boughton Oval, beginning at 5.30pm with the workshop and games commencing at 6pm.
Registration will remain open until Wednesday, April 10 so there is still time for those wanting to play to get involved.
Free PCYC memberships are still available for players who register via the PCYC at Boston Street, Moree.
"The Moree Community Drug Action team are pitching in with free PCYC memberships for players who sign up, but to take advantage of that opportunity, players must contact the PCYC directly," Moree Plain Shire Council's Community Development Officer Ros Laws said.
As the season progresses the committee will be looking for sponsors and support from the community to see the league continue into the future.
"The committee will be fundraising throughout the season selling $1 sausage sandwiches at the games going forward," Mrs Laws said.
