Moree residents enjoyed their first rainy day of 2019 on Wednesday, as the clouds finally opened up, bringing steady rainfall during the morning.

It was the first steady soaking Moree has had since mid-December, when 22.4 millimetres was recorded on Friday, December 14.
An additional 1.2mm fell on December 20 and a measly 0.2mm was recorded on December 22.
While the weather has been hot, windy and stormy for much of the last week, the first rainfall of January occurred during a storm on Sunday evening, which saw a total of 1mm recorded at Moree Aero.

That storm brought a welcome reprieve from the 40-degree temperatures of the week before, however the cool change (still 24 degrees overnight) didn’t last long before temperatures began to climb closer to 40 again.
A top of 39 degrees is still expected for Wednesday, despite the morning rainfall.
More showers are forecast for Thursday, which is predicted to reach a maximum of 40 degrees, dropping to 26 overnight.
The sunny weather will return on Friday, with zero chance of rain and temperatures ranging from 26 to 39.
Australia Day on Saturday, is expected to be a hot one, with a top of 40 degrees forecast.
