McHappy Day is this Saturday, November 17 and the team at McDonald’s Moree have plenty of fun activities planned to raise much-needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
Moree McDonald’s is having a Disney theme to celebrate this year’s McHappy Day and all customers are encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite Disney character.
There will also be a visit from a number of Crocodile Encounters’ scaly creatures, which will be at the store from 8am to 11am. Customers will have the opportunity to see/hold a crocodile, two pythons, a lizard, stick insect and a turtle.
Rose Sparkle Events will be at the store face painting from 11am to 2pm, while Dan Mani Music will be performing on the day.
A barber, who will be dressed as Prince Charming, will be offering haircuts for men, while a beautician will be doing nails for the ladies. There will also be a chocolate wheel and colouring-in competition.
All money raised from these activities, as well as $2 from every Big Mac sold (for the first time Big Macs will be available all day, following the launch of McDonald’s all day menu), and the purchase of McHappy Day socks for $5 or $2, $5 or $10 Helping Hands, will go towards Ronald McDonald House Charities.
People can also make a gold coin donation with one of the Bucket Brigades that will be out in full force on McHappy Day.

Moree McDonalds aims to raise $7,777 on the day, which will go a long way in supporting Moree families who use Ronald McDonald House.
“There are families in Moree that have used Ronald McDonald House, so it really is an important charity to support,” Moree McDonalds manager Lee-Anne Manton said.
“Hopefully the store is packed tomorrow.”
As the largest fundraiser for RMHC Australia nationally, McHappy Day is crucial in raising funds for the charity, which helps keep families together while their seriously ill child undergoes treatment.
Since it first started in 1991, McHappy Day has raised more than $42 million for RMHC nationally, $4 million of which was raised in 2017.
Barbara Ryan, CEO of RHMC, said it’s the generosity and support of Aussies that makes a world of difference for families during times of need.
“Every week, more and more families come to Ronald McDonald Houses in need of a place to stay,” she said.
“McHappy Day is vital in helping us catch these families and providing them the softest landing we can, giving them care and support when they need it most.
“McHappy Day is a great community day, and I’d encourage Moree residents to get involved by heading into their local Moree McDonald’s restaurant on Saturday, November 17.
“This is our biggest fundraising day of the year and truly helps make a difference for families in their time of need.”
Last year, McHappy Day helped in NSW with:
- Providing almost 70,000 nights of accommodation or “bed nights” for over 2,200 families
- Nearly 15,000 families visited our Family Rooms, and over 150 were able to use our Family Retreats
- More than 1,300 students were able to be included in the learning program nationally on any given week.
Donations fund programs including Ronald McDonald Houses, Ronald McDonald Family Rooms, Ronald McDonald Learning Program, and the Ronald McDonald Family Retreats.
