For five weeks Birrang Enterprise instructor Julie McKenzie has delivered the Driver Licence Access Program to Boggabilla residents.
Birrang, a not-for-profit based in Orange, offers its instructors, lessons and vehicles free to help indigenous and disadvantaged people living in regional NSW get around and become employed with a licence.
Thirty-two participants attended three classes per week to practise their L’s test, read through the handbook and learn about road signs and information.

Those already holding their L’s were also able to log-up their hours and build their confidence behind the wheel before applying for their P’s.
Ms McKenzie said she was impressed with the commitment of the students.
“They think it’s awesome to have us here to assist them because without the program, they wouldn’t have been able to do it,” Miss McKenzie said.
Eight participants passed their driving test and 12 gained their learner’s licence. Cameron Charles was the first to pass.
This is the second time the program has been hosted locally after previous success.
