The first, ‘Reclaim the Night’ will be a march from the town hall to Kirby Park from 4pm on October 26.
The community is invited to stand together to address the issues surrounding sexual assault against women and children, and to work together to address safety at night for the whole community.
Upon arriving at Kirby Park there will be speeches, information, entertainment and a free barbecue for the whole community.
“So we are inviting the whole community to come on down,” publicity officer Glen Crump said.
NoVA, which comprises multiple services in Moree, will then host an event for White Ribbon Day sticking with this year’s theme: See, Talk, Offer support, Prevent (STOP).
“Each year around the world White Ribbon Day is held to work towards an end to male violence against women and children. It was formed in 1991 as a response to the multiple massacres of women in Canada and Latin America.
“Each year since, the aim of White Ribbon is to engage men to make women and children’s safety a man’s issue too,” Glen said.
White Ribbon Australia operates in collaboration with, and alongside, many other organisations working to end men’s violence against women.
Their focus and strength to mobilising men and communities to end violence against women.
“In 2017 the recorded rate of domestic violence related assault in Moree Plains LGA was ranked two out of the 120 areas that have populations greater than 3000.
“In 2018 we are still ranking in the top three for the state.”
This year will see a day of speakers, information and collaboration with major guest speakers:
