Held annually, the deb ball officially presents the ladies to society through a beautiful ceremony.
Lodge Courallie 235 worshipful master Warren Fanning said the ladies were presented to his most worshipful grand master Derek Robson (AM) NSW/ACT.
Upon entering, the ladies were piped into the hall. From all reports the night was very successful.
“During the presentation, the young ladies and their partners passed under an arch of steel.
“About 12 of our members held up the swords to form the arch.”
Afterwards the debutantes enjoyed a sit down meal with their partners, families and dignitaries.
Prior to the ball, the ladies and their partners committed to dance rehearsals with Janice Ford.
“I think the discipline involved in participating in the deb ball is a good learning experience for the young ladies.
“They commit to rehearsals twice a week in the lead-up and learn a lot of new things along the way,” he said.
Lodge Courallie call for potential debs around four weeks prior to the annual event.
The debs and their partners practice in the Lodge Courallie hall before moving to the town hall a few weeks out to become familiar with the floor plan.
Mr Fanning said the lodge reaches out to schools mainly calling for ladies who may like to experience their debut.
“Experiencing an event like this is a lot different to reading about it.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime thing,” he said.
Local debutantes and their partners included: Brooke Muller and Lachlan Appleby, Chloe Flegerbein and John Shelton, Sharri Eggins and Andrew Atkinson, Chelsea Kelly and Nathaneal MacIntosh, Marina Shelton and Bradley McLane, Grace Carter and Oscar Davis and Amanda Leifels, and Sean Conrad.
