“The old logo was a bit outdated and they [MYC members] thought it was time to re-brand the name with a new, modern look,” Moree Plains Shire Council assistant community projects officer Jacqui Moore said.
Moree Youth Council called on anyone below the age of 25 to send in their designs to help with the makeover. The logo competition started at the beginning of June and ended on the 27th in the same month.

Members of the council voted on the best design from a pool of 11 entries.
“Moree Youth Council was very impressed with how creative the submissions were,” Ms Moore said.
Entrants were left to their own free will, without any limitation to design or colours. The only condition was that the logo had to incorporate the Moree Youth Council logo.
Submissions varied from the MYC logo imposed over a colourful diamond, to angular representations of people celebrating over the logo.
Zach Mitchell’s design was decided as the winning logo. It was praised for pairing originality with the Moree Plains Shire Council’s logo.
“It was impressive to see what he came up with. He sketched a drawing of a young person in the middle of an imitation of the Moree Plains Shire Council logo,” Ms Moore said.
The new logo will be uploaded to the Moree Youth Council Facebook page in the coming future.
