Moree Secondary College year 10 students are currently completing work experience with local businesses around the community, gaining valuable knowledge about what it’s like to be a part of the workforce.

One of these is Lilly Lindberg, who has clocked up some miles this week travelling around the shire with the Gwydir Mobile Children’s Service.
“It’s awesome,” she said
“I’ve gotten to meet some amazing people who have taught me incredible lessons.”

Since starting on Monday, June 25, Lilly has travelled to Gravesend, Garah, Boomi and finished at Croppa Creek on Thursday.
Although the mobile preschool wasn’t her first choice for work experience, she said she wouldn’t change it for the world.
“The experience has opened my eyes to what child care as a career would be like,” Lilly said
Going in with some expectations, Lilly didn’t anticipate the variation between not only children’s personalities but also their learning abilities.
Her favourite part of the week was going to the different places, meeting the kids and seeing how they acted towards her.
“Gravesend kids were different to say Boomi kids because their own personal stories, backgrounds and outlook on life reflected within their learning and personalities,” she said
Lilly holds aspirations for a career path in nursing. She hopes that during her next round of work experience later this year she’ll be able to shadow a nurse and gain a ‘hands-on’ experience within the medical world.
To Lilly work experience is an eye-opener to the world.
“Doing something practical helps you figure out what you want to do, sitting in class sugar coats it but by actually doing the practical side it makes you experience the real life situations,” she said
“Work experience limits the feeling of being thrown in the deep-end when you actually do become a part of the workforce.”
During her short time with the Gwydir Mobile Children’s Service Lilly has had an amazing experience and extends a massive thank you to Wendy and Renea for giving her this eye opening opportunity.
Lilly highly recommends the Gwydir Mobile Children’s Service to other students for work experience as it is something different and full of fun.
