One of these is Patty Zou, who is doing work experience at Moree’s Big Sky Library for two weeks.
Patty began her two-week stint on Monday, June 25 and said she’s really enjoying it so far.
“There is lots for me to do,” she said.
“The library is mostly where I spend my time. My cousins and I are always borrowing books so I felt comfortable to do my work experience here.”

During her time working at the library, so far Patty has been helping with afternoon workshops for school children, packing and labelling new DVDs as well as sorting books and placing them on the shelves once they’ve been returned.
Although Patty did have a little idea of what she’d be doing during her time there she didn’t realise how popular the library is within the community.
“Lots of people like to use it,” she said.
“It is a great opportunity to interact with people and build my confidence.”
Patty holds aspirations for a possible career path in teaching so this experience has been very rewarding thus far as it gives her a more “hands-on” experience.
“Work experience allows for kids to do something different than school, it’s a way to build and develop skills,” Patty said.
“Sitting in a classroom and listening to a teacher is different to actually doing something outside of school.”
During her short time Patty has thoroughly enjoyed working at the library and recommends it to other students for their work experience as it is full of valuable knowledge that they will enjoy.
