Councillors made the decision to get rid of the special rate at last Thursday’s council meeting.
The change is part of council’s 2018/19 operational plan and budget, which is currently on public exhibition.
The operational plan and budget outlines what council will do over the coming year to work towards implementing the strategies identified in their community strategic plan - ‘Moree Plains 2027 – Your Shire. The Plan. Our Future.’
During Thursday’s council meeting, councillors also voted to investigate the provision of lockers at the Moree Artesian Aquatic Centre, with a budget of up to $10,000 allocated from the Council General Reserve Fund.
Council also plans to investigate the Tourism Moree budget further.
The draft operational plan and budget went on public exhibition on Friday, May 25.
The community now has until 4pm on June 25 to review the draft document and make a submission to council.
The document can be found online at www.mpsc.nsw.gov.au/hot-topics/submissions-and-public-notices.
