Don’t miss the furniture painting workshop at Moree Plains Art Gallery at 10am on February 3. The 3.5-hour workshop invites participants to bring with them a small piece of furniture to complete. Kids fishing
The Moree Lions Kids Fishing Weekend is upon us. Registrations open at 8am on Saturday, January 20, with the last weigh-in at 11.30am on Sunday, January 21. There will also be a learn-to fish morning for those keen to learn. The event is for kids from 6 to 12 years. All children must be accompanied by a parent. There will be a sausage sizzle and prizes to be won. The event takes place at Gumflat Reserve, Gwydir Highway, Moree. Don’t forget to bring your fishing gear, hat, sunscreen, bait and camera. Shades of Freed
The Narrabri District Junior Rugby League is hosting a special screening of 50 Shades of Freed at the Crossing Theatre of Narrabri (117 Tibbereena Street, Narrabri, New South Wales) from 6.30pm to 9.30pm on February 8. Admission includes pre-movie canapes and a drink. Call (02) 6792 4654
Warialda Country Festival
The inaugural Warialda Country Festival will celebrate all things country with talented artists performing at the local Golf & Bowling Club from 10am to 10pm on January 28. Come wind down in Warialda at the corner of High and Holden streets.
Tinker Tales
The Tinker Table will be set up at the Moree Community Library on January 24. Fun, art, craft and science activities will be available for children (4+ years) from 10.30am to 11am. Parental supervision is required.
The Library is also hosting Holiday Story Time sessions on January 23 and 30 from 10.30am.
Knit and Natter
The Moree Community Library’s Knit & Natter group meets every second Monday at 2pm. The group needs help to sew together knitted and crocheted squares to make blankets for locals in need. Come in, enjoy the cool, and meet new friends while helping those in need.
Cliff’s BBQ
Cliff invites you to join Moree Aged and Disability Services Inc for its monthly BBQ. Held on the third Friday of every month. RSVP by the third Thursday of every month. Cost $5. Takes place at Respite House (Edward St, Moree) on Friday, January 19, from 12pm to 1.20pm. Call 1300 593 113.
Summer program
The Summer Session at he Moree Plains Gallery aims to provide children (aged 6 to 14 years) a safe and creative outlet these summer holidays. Children can select from three different workshops, each running for 1.5 hours from Jan 23-25 and January 30, 31 and February 1 (9am, 11am and 1.30am). $20 per workshop (all materials included). Class sizes are strictly limited, therefore, booking is essential.

Submit a community notice through our website. It is really simple to use and can be accessed via any computer or mobile device, including your smart phone. To submit community notices or sports details for publication click on the tab that says “Send Us Your News” on the home page. You’ll find it right under the name of the newspaper in a light grey banner that has the links for News, Sport, Opinion, Community, Send Us Your News and Classifieds.
When you click on the “Send Us Your News” tab, you’ll see you will see a line that says, “So you’re holding an event? Share it with the community”. Click on this link and it will open the form for submitting your community notices. For sports details look for a photo of a bowler with the words “Want to share sport results, draws or teams?” written on it. Click on the words and this will open the form for submitting your sports details. If you can’t see the forms immediately you might have to scroll down the page a little. Mobile phone: If you are using a mobile phone, access the “Send Us Your News” tab on the drop down menu by clicking on the three grey bars to the left of the newspaper’s banner. Scroll down to find the forms.
