Described as an “asset to the working community” vacation care has been operating locally since 2009, providing care to 60 children at any one time.
However, Moree Family Support manager Felicity Curtis said with no venue the service simply could not run.
“It is disheartening because we have the suitable careers and qualifications and we know how many low-income earners and working families rely on this vacation care,” she said.
Moree Family Support hope to hear from those who utalise the service at a meeting on March 7 at Apex Park.
Mrs Curtis would like to work with the community to find the need for vacation care, feedback from parents who use the service and collect information.
“The more information and support we have, the easier it will be to have conversations with different members of the community and try and find a new venue,” she said.
Moree Family Support hope to lock down a permanent located after a few years of moving around.
“I would hate to find a new place and then have to move again and possibly not be able to operate next holidays.
“We know there is a need for vacation care in Moree because we do have so many working families.
“We are not for profit so everything that comes in goes back to our families.”
The meeting will be held from 6pm at Apex Park.
A barbecue and children’s activities will be provided.
For those unable to attend the meeting, a Facebook event has been created for people to share their comments and need for the service.
