Reserve grade started well and dominated possession for the first 25 minutes before the visitors caught them asleep at the back.
It was one of many defensive lapses which saw them lose 4-1.
“It was a weekend we had pencilled in as a chance to get another win, but it wasn’t to be,” he said.
“Our finishing was terrible.”
Smith said last weekend was a possible reason for the lethargic display after most players played four games in two days.
“Some of the boys were complaining about still being sore and they all didn’t seem right from the moment they turned up,” he added.
First grade started well and scored the first goal before Namoi clicked into gear to register their first win for the year with a 9-3 thrashing.
Smith said the performance of winger Marco Cecchelli along with Alex Madden were rare highlights.
“Marco played really well on the left side, scored a goal and had some really good crosses into the box,” he said.
“Alex played well when he came on and made an impact. It showed how much we’ve really missed him and Josh O’Neile this year.”
Despite the loss Smith believed his side hadn’t given up on the season.
“All we can do is continue to build on next season. It’s been a long year.”
