A woman has been charged after a man was stabbed in the state's far north over the weekend.

About 4pm on Sunday, October 13, a 65-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman were at their home in Boggabilla when an argument unfolded.
During the argument it is alleged the woman slashed the man to the lower abdomen with a knife, causing a deep laceration.

Police were told the man left the location and was taken to hospital for treatment. He was later flown to Toowoomba Base Hospital for emergency surgery.
Officers attached to New England Police District arrested the woman at the home a short time later.
She was taken to Boggabilla Police Station and charged with reckless wounding (DV).
The woman was granted conditional bail to appear before Moree Local Court on Monday, October 28.
