A total of 12 projects from Moree Plains Shire have been submitted as part of the My Community Project grants program, which aims to fund projects in each NSW electorate to help improve the wellbeing of the people and communities that live there.
Up to $260,000 of funding is available to each electorate, with grants of between $20,000 and $200,000 to be awarded to the projects that receive the most support via community votes.
In the Northern Tablelands electorate, a total of 42 projects, including the 12 from the Moree Plains Shire, are vying for votes, so the Moree community is encouraged to get behind the local projects by voting.
"The projects for our shire are competing against all submissions for the Northern Tablelands electorate so it's really important that the community gets on board to vote for their preferred projects," Moree Plains Shire Council's acting manager of economic development and grants Susannah Pearse said.
Voting for the My Community Project program opened on Monday, July 15, when the full list of eligible projects was released by the state government.
The eligible Moree Plains Shire projects (in order of how they appear on the Service NSW website) are:
- Moree Boars Football Club clubhouse facility, valued at $200,000
- Weemelah Hall public toilets inclusive upgrade, valued at $50,715
- Pallamallawa "Nanna Brazel" Park inclusive upgrades including children's bike track and static exercise equipment, valued at $48,000
- Country Kids Festival 2020, valued at $200,000
- Mungindi Tennis Court revitalisation, valued at $99,872
- River Gums road resurfacing and community gazebo, valued at $200,000
- Boomi community and sporting facilities project, valued at $41,265
- Just Reinvest Moree youth and community coordinator to collaborate between services working with young people in Moree, valued at $88,945
- Moree netball courts power and lighting upgrade, valued at $120,174
- Moree Civic Precinct retractable seating installation, valued at $196,600
- Boggabilla Sports Ground amenities valued at $186,265
- Boggabilla cultural learning spaces, valued at $44,350
There are also projects for Crooble and Warialda among the list.

To vote, residents need to be registered for a My Service NSW account. Voters need to pick between three and five projects in their electorate, arrange them in order of preference and then submit the vote. Each person can only vote once.
