Moree community members, domestic violence core workers, local police and members of Moree’s No Violence Alliance (NoVA) marched from Moree Town Hall to Kirkby Park last Friday, to protest men’s sexual violence towards women.
At Kirkby Park, Moree Rotary Club provided a barbecue for the small band of marchers.
Held on the last Friday in October each year, the Reclaim the Night campaign allows women to come together to speak out against violence and to celebrate their strength.

NoVA vice chair Carol French said the idea of the march is to create awareness about the issue in Moree and to let victims know there is help out there.
“It’s to give victims support and to try to reduce the rates of sexual assault,” she said.
Ms French said NoVA were disappointed by the poor attendance at this year’s march and will be looking at other ways they can get the message out next year.
NoVA’s next event will be for White Ribbon Day later this month.
