Reclaim the Night is a global women’s protest against men’s sexual violence towards women.
Held on the last Friday in October each year, the campaign allows women to come together to speak out against violence and to celebrate their strength.
On Friday, October 27, members of Moree’s No Violence Alliance (NoVA) committee held a barbecue outside Woolworths to raise awareness for the Reclaim the Night campaign, while raising funds for the White Ribbon Foundation.
The committee was inundated with support from the community and ended up raising a total of $294.40 which will go towards the White Ribbon Foundation’s campaign to end violence against women.
“We’d like to say a huge thank you to the community for supporting the barbecue,” NoVA publicity officer Ros Laws said.
This year, instead of marching for Reclaim the Night, NoVA will be organising a community march on Friday, November 24 for White Ribbon Day (November 25).
