Written by second generation BATS members and sisters, Tia and Ashlee Carrigan, the production follows Prince Charming and the Fairy Tale Police Department in search of his beloved Cinderella.
BATS president, Claudia Carrigan, said the show was a valuable part of the Boomi community and had been a welcome break from the unfavourable farming season.
“The past year has been hard for the community battling drought, and with another uncertain year ahead, it is great to have an outlet for all those that need to get away from home or the farm for a bit of fun,” she said.
“This year we have a bigger cast than ever with many people coming from Moree and Goondiwindi to practice every week.
“The commitment shown by the cast members is testament to BATS and the reason we are still dancing and prancing after 23 years!”
Local stars such as Tanya Nicholls and Strath Carrigan, along with many others will again bedazzle audiences with their powerful voices.
‘Once Upon a Crime’ features all of our childhood characters, along with some of the more modern, such as Peter Pan, Snow White and Red Riding in “da hood”.
In 2012, BATS distributed over $40,000 in proceeds to local charities and organisations such as the local pool, shop, primary school, sporting groups, nursing homes in surrounding districts and many more.
BATS will perform ‘Once Upon a Crime’ for six shows over three weekends.
The dates are as follows:
• Friday, August 22 and Saturday, August 23,
• Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30, and;
• Friday, September 5 and Saturday, September 6
Tickets will go on sale at 9am on Monday, July 28 from Dot Marquart on (02) 6753 5263.
