Cocaine and cannabis use were detected by police in Moree and Pallamallawa on Saturday during a high-visibility operation targeting drug-related crime.

New England Police District officers from the Moree Proactive Crime Team and Moree Criminal Investigation Unit, assisted by the Dog Unit, conducted the operation at licensed premises and public places throughout the Moree and Pallamallawa townships on Saturday, December 19.

During the operation, police detected illicit drugs including cocaine and cannabis on five occasions.
New England Police District Commander Superintendent Steve Laksa said the community should be assured that police won't tolerate drug-related crime.
"The operation is the result of information received from the community, who have made several reports in respect of the use and supply of prohibited drugs in the community," Supt Laksa said.
"Anyone involved in drug use and supply should know the severe consequences they face, which may include imprisonment."
