The local trainer peaked early at the Moree Summer Races on Saturday, claiming his first and only win of the day with Suvero in race one, the 1300 metre Maiden Plate.
The three-year-old gelding, ridden by Ben Looker, finished two lengths in front of Walbundrie, trained by Catherine Chapman, with Arealist coming in at third place.
It was Suvero's first win, having only had two previous starts in September, finishing 11th at Benalla and 10th at Kilmore.

Sinclair's only other success of the day came in the final race, the 1200m benchmark 50 handicap, when Ah Well placed second.
The four-year-old mare, ridden by Ashley Morgan, came in five and a half lengths behind the Gavin Groth-trained Big Surprise and just under half a length in front of Ringside, trained by John Bourke.
Sinclair had two other hopefuls in the benchmark 50 handicap, however Solar Panel placed sixth and Doin' Shots came in at eighth place.
Fellow Moree trainer Doug Fernando just missed out on a place, with Beau in Chains finishing fourth.
Sinclair's other entrants, Seebix and Jules Rules, also had no luck, nor did Sinclair's son Nathan's hopeful Mill City in the class 2 plate.
Saturday ended up being Groth's day, with the Gunnedah trainer also bagging a big win in the benchmark 66 handicap over 1400 metres with Annie's Street.
While the annual race day drew a smaller crowd than usual due to COVID-19 restrictions, Moree Race Club secretary Michelle Gobbert said it was a great day.
"Everyone was pleased," she said.
"A lot of people said it was really nice having a smaller crowd, because there was more room for people to get in under the shade."
The crowd of about 600 people were able to take full advantage of the shade and fans underneath the betting area, during what was a particularly hot and humid day.
While the temperature only got to 34.3 degrees, there was lots of moisture in the air from the storm on Friday.
A downpour of rain just before the fifth race cooled everyone off, before a rainbow came out in time for Fashions on the Field.
