EARLIER: The Newell Highway remains closed in both directions just north of Bellata due to flooding across the road.
The highway was closed 5 kilometres north of Bellata at about 6.20am on Thursday due to flooding from rainfall overnight.
Emergenmcy services and Transport for NSW are on the scene, according to Live Traffic NSW.
Live Traffic NSW has advised motorists to avoid the area and delay travel.
Motorists who cannot delay their travel could consider using the Kamilaroi Highway from Narrabri to Walgett, then the Gwydir Highway to Moree, and vice versa.
This route is suitable for all vehicles but will add around four hours to the journey.
