We understand there has been some confusion about what exactly this means. Hopefully this information will help...

The border zone includes both sides of the border - people who live in Queensland but work or go to school in their neighbouring border town, or people who live in New South Wales but come to work or school in their neighbouring border town in Queensland.

Border zone residents can cross the border within the border zone for ANY purpose including work, shopping, school or recreation.

Queensland border zone residents cannot travel outside the border zone in New South Wales (but can travel anywhere within Queensland).

And New South Wales border zone residents cannot travel outside the border zone in either Queensland or New South Wales.

Any border zone residents who have been in a hotspot in the last 14 days will have to quarantine for 14 days in government arranged accommodation at their own expense when they enter Queensland.

For example, this means that if a person in New South Wales travels outside of the NSW border zone (eg Narrabri, Inverell etc), they cannot enter the Queensland border zone communities for 14 days or they will have to quarantine for 14 days on their arrival into QLD.

If you live in a border zone community in New South Wales, and are eligible to come to an area located outside of the Queensland border zone communities, such as Brisbane, you will have to quarantine for 14 days.

The pandemic is a rapidly evolving situation and border restrictions and health advice are subject to change.
