BAMM hosted the free family art day on Saturday, as an opportunity for children to create their own portrait of a family member to enter into the Young Archies Competition, being held as part of the visiting Archibald Prize exhibition.
A total of 32 children and 15 adults attended the day, which BAMM interim director Kate Tuart said was fantastic.
"We tried to do something similar before for adults, but it wasn't as popular," she said.
"There's clearly an interest for this type of event for kids though.
"It's really nice out in the garden with easels; it's always lovely to do something outside."
Each of the children who participated in the day will enter their portraits into the Young Archies Competition, with all portraits to be displayed as part of the Archibald Prize exhibition, which opens on Friday, March 20.
Entries for the Young Archies Competition are due this Friday, March 6.
Entries must be created from at least one live sitting between the artist and sitter, replicating the process of the Archibald Prize and encouraging artists to connect with and represent the personality of their sitter.
ANZ will be providing cash prizes for the winners of the four age categories (five to eight-year-olds, nine to 12-year-olds, 13 to 15-year-olds and 16 to 18-year-olds).
