The UAC meeting will be held on April 1, and the tenants and owners have been asked to make a joint presentation for council's consideration, based on the finance and governance meeting on February 27.
The Ficus Hillii trees in the CBD area of Moree have caused significant damage to the tiles on the street and have resulted in increasing maintenance costs.
The decision was met with some opposition but now council wants feedback on a potential plan moving forward.
Moree Chamber of Commerce chairperson Dibs Cush spoke in the public forum at council meeting and said she's not against the removal of the trees but wanted more time to come up with a solution.
"A little bit more time is required, definitely for planning, because this is the second go at beautifying the main street," she said.
"It happened in 2000 so I think we need to get it right in terms of tree species, something that does beautify our main street without creating problems 20 years down the track."
Council moved to invite the business owners and tenants to present a concept plan, with the recommendations to then be presented back to council at a future meeting.
"I think we need to make a decision and move on," Moree mayor Katrina Humphries said.
"We need the trees for shade but we need the right trees."
