Council has begun distributing the books in Moree, with more to be handed out at this Friday's Christmas at Twilight at council's book stand.
In Mungindi, books have been provided to the Mungindi Customer Service Centre and parents and guardians are encouraged to collect a book on their child's behalf.
For Boggabilla and Pallamallawa, arrangements are being made for books to be dropped off to a central location. Residents are encouraged to watch the Moree Plains Shire Council Facebook page for updates.
The Christmas book initiative was funded by the state government through Mr Marshall who provided $5,000 with council also providing staff time and project management to the equivalent of $5,000.
