Moree Plains Shire Council commenced work at the park on Monday, July 1, with the installation of new playground equipment part of the fully grant-funded Moree Playground Community Improvement Project.
Council was awarded the funding through the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund to deliver local infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life for people in regional communities.
Council's project and development manager Lila Fisher said that the project would provide residents with greater access to improved facilities that the whole community can enjoy.
"Moree's playgrounds are well utilised facilities that greatly add to the appeal of our town and play a vital role in bringing the community together," she said.
"Spilsbury Park is a popular rest stop for travellers as well as locals as it is just off the Moree main street and this upgrade will go far in improving Moree's recreational offer to our youngest members of the community, local families and visitors."
The playground will be reopening, allowing for public access and use of the playground from Friday, July 19, weather permitting.
All enquiries should be directed to Moree Plains Shire Council's engineering department on (02) 6752 3222.
