The school was inundated with 137 orders of pizza and pasta for the first fundraising event, held on Friday, March 29, to raise money for the year 11 and 12 ancient history Europe excursion next year.
"It was more than I expected," ancient history teacher Jason Auld said.
"It's been well-received in the community ... I even had to knock back four or five businesses [on Thursday afternoon] because we just couldn't cater for them."
About 45 students were involved in the pizza and pasta day all up, including students from the ancient history class, hospitality and food technology.
"It's a joint a cross-curriculum effort," TAS head teacher and head chef Michael Davison said.
"Some of the kids are doing amazing things. I didn't realise some of them were so talented in this field; it might be a potential career path.
"These days are amazing as it gives them experience working in a commercial kitchen environment. This food is going out into the community, so the quality has to be high. I'm very impressed with the way they've all stepped up."
The students cooked a total of 9kg of pasta on Friday, and all of the food (besides the pasta) was made from scratch, including the pizza bases. However the students did have the opportunity to make fresh pasta in class the day before.
After expenses, Mr Auld estimates they'll have raised about $800 from the day, which he said is a great start to their excursion fundraising.
Year 12 will do a similar fundraising event next term, and the ancient history class plan to hold another pizza and pasta day in term four this year due to the success of the first one.
They also plan to host a trivia night, as well as do a few raffles and meat trays and sell chocolates.
The excursion, a 14-day adventure through Italy and Greece's ancient cities in July 2020, is expected to cost $6,000 per student, so all money raised through fundraisers will go towards reducing costs for families.
