With the state election only a week away, and pre-poll centres due to open at Glen Innes and Moree on Saturday, election manager for the Northern Tablelands, Peter Dooley, said he had already seen quite a few people casting their votes ahead of time.
"We had quite good volumes through [that] slightly exceed the anticipated levels,' he said.
"Between Armidale and Inverell we've had over 1000. It's becoming more popular, but not as high as 50 per cent."

Mr Dooley said the party workers in front of the centre seemed to remain on good terms with each other.
There will be 45 polling places in this electorate with four early voting centres, and Mr Dooley said they would be visiting 19 declared localities (such as hospitals and the like) throughout the electorate.
