For many years, the Burke and Wills owners would send Deluxe Cafe’s ice cream van over to Gwydir Industries at Christmas time and treat all the clients to whatever ice cream they wanted.
However, since the ice cream van was sold this year, Adell and Steve decided to carry on the tradition, and instead bought ice creams themselves, and had Santa deliver them to Gwydir Industries in an esky on Wednesday.
“We’ve always had the ice cream van come over but they sold it, so we thought we’d buy ice creams this year,” Adell said.
“We’ve done it for 10 to 15 years.
“We had to bring Santa over and wish them all the best for Christmas and give them some ice creams.
“They love them – we get so many smiles and thank yous and hugs. It’s really good.”
