Fitness instructor Suzie Treloar and boxing coach, Colin (Chalky) Rice, have opened a new fitness centre in Moree.
With support of proprietors of Gwydir Chiropractic Centre, Greg and Rachel Bell, the centre is located behind their business premises on Frome Street.
Moree Boxing and Fitness held it’s official opening last Wednesday evening.
It’s estimated that a crowd of up to 100 people came along throughout the night to support the new venture.
“We were very overwhelmed with the amount of people who turned up to wish us well,” Treloar said.
“There was a mixture of people who’d been training with Chalky and I from our days at Moree Boxing Academy, family, friends, other allied health professionals, sponsors, well-wishers, and various members of the community who just wanted to come and have a look”.
Councillor, Kerry Cassells, was also a welcome visitor.
After the welcome speeches the official cutting of the ribbon took place.
People were then allowed to go into the boxing shed to look at the new surroundings.
However there was one extra surprise; up and coming local Moree professional boxer, TC Priestley, put on a wonderful demonstration for the crowd.
His skipping technique had the crowd in awe.
He also demonstrated shadow boxing and training on the punching bags.
TC has a fight coming up in eight weeks and will be training regularly out of the Moree Boxing and Fitness Centre with Chalky.
Suzie and Chalky bring a lot of experience between them to the fitness Centre.
Chalky is a fully qualified boxing coach and he has been coaching boxers for more than 10 years. He plans to coach young boxers and take them to competitions in the future.
Suzie is a qualified fitness instructor. She has been conducting boxing fitness classes for more than six years and enjoys a good following amongst all members of the community.
Classes for both Chalky and Suzie commenced on Monday, September 24.
A full timetable is available on their facebook page, Moree Boxing and Fitness.
There will be classes available for people of all fitness levels, all ages (from 12 and over) and all walks of life.
“Our plan is to keep class prices low and affordable so that people can train more than once a week”, said Chalky.
“We wish to thank everyone who has supported us to get us this far.”
