Barwon Learning Centre fired up a barbecue for the club on Thursday afternoon, so its students could share a lunch with the club teammates.
“The grand final lunch acknowledges the success of the club. The Boomerangs keep coming back over the years,” Kim Sampson said.
Barwon Learning Centre principal Margaret Hayes pointed out the lunch also celebrated the club as a whole.
“We are not only celebrating with the Boomerangs because three divisions have made it to the grand finals, but because of all the work they do in the community,” she said.
Although Boomerangs league-tag team will miss out on a shot at the grand final this time around, Ms Hayes said coach Lorile Haines could be proud of the past year.

“She has done a lot of good work in the community and for the women in Moree.”
Ms Hayes highlighted the close ties between the club and the community.
“My son’s paternal grandmother Connie Green [nee Cutmore] was always a passionate Boomerangs supporter and sponsor. Sadly she passed away, and she will be buried on Monday. And I know that my son, his family and the community are hoping the rangs will bring home the trophy, not just for Moree, but for her as well.”
A-grade captain Zac Sampson said the teams had all been training hard over the week for the showdown on Sunday.
“I am pretty excited and very confident. It’s a big achievement for the club.”
