The first ball was held in 1995 as a graduation for the 37 preschoolers at the end of the school year. The little ones debuted with their partners in front of 600 people at the Moree Town Hall.
Special guests were Mrs Cain Snr, Maude Wright and Dr Peter Bilton, while master of ceremonies was Tom French. Ms Lamb was the director of Kiah Preschool at the time and said it’s something she’ll never forget.“It was an amazing night and one I remember for a life time such a supportive community,” she said.
About three of four of the deb balls were held in the ‘90s before the format of the graduation changed to a less formal affair at Kiah Preschool.
However, on July 9 and 10, the mini deb ball made a comeback, with 64 Aboriginal girls making their debut over two big nights.
