“We are assembled here to commemorate that immortal day when the young men of Australia by their deeds and sacrifice demonstrated the world at Gallipoli that Australia was truly a Nation. The sons and daughters of Anzacs came forward without question, accepted gladly and discharged fully, their responsibilities during World War Two, Korea, Malaya, Borneo, Vietnam and Afghanistan conflicts,” Fair View Retirement Village CEO and Master of Ceremonies Brett Arthur said.

The premature ceremony was put on for residents of the Fairview Retirement Village who might be unable to make the main service tomorrow.
“Only a small number of residents from Fairview Retirement Village will be able to make it to the Anzac Day Ceremony tomorrow. This is a chance for everyone to take part and pay respects to those who have served for Australia,” Mr Arthur said.
Stella Cusack, Minister Ian Davies, Laurel Bryant, Liz Rusby and John William each took part in the service, with Anne Holden providing a brief about the contribution of Aboriginal Australians to the wars.
Service-goers also took the opportunity to lay wreaths to remember those who had fallen and fought for their country.
“Many of the residents here, in fact, would have a relative who fought in the war,” Mr Arthur said.
A morning tea followed the service.
