The 21-year-old completed his flight test in the Moree Aero Club Jabiru J170C aircraft, successfully achieving his pilot certificate.
Chief flying instructor Fred Nolan said flying is in the blood for the Burey family.
“Dave follows in the footsteps of his grandfather John and his dad, Geoff,” he said.
David said he’d always aspired to one day get his licence.
“Ever since dad took me when I was little, I’ve loved going up,” he said.
“It was only since I got out of school that I thought I’d get in and actually do it.”
David said he loves the freedom of flying.
“You get up there and it’s a good head-clearing thing,” he said.
“I like being able to get out and have some space.”
David will now complete his navigation course and transition in due course to the family Cessna 182 airplane VH-KAT, which is undergoing annual maintenance.
