“We will be moving afternoon visiting hours to begin at 3pm, instead of 2.30pm when clinical handover begins. This will make it easier for staff to complete this important process for the benefit of the patients,” she said.
The changes in visiting times will go into effect on Monday, March 5. A rest period will be introduced between 1pm and 3pm, re-arranging visiting hours from 8am-1pm and 3pm to 8pm.
“With the rest period now starting a little later at 1pm, visitors will be able to stay with patients for their lunch time. This will allow visitors to share a meal with the patient or assist them if required,” said Ms Cosh.
Ms Cosh added the new visiting hours would suit everyone across the board, including patients, their visitors and staff.
“This will also assist staff during clinical handover which had previously taken place during visiting hours,” said Ms Cosh.
