"The artworks are made by artists who have all spent time living in remote communities,” said Moree Plains Gallery director Vivien Clyne.
Fourteen acclaimed Australian and international artists channel their engagement with local residents, histories and landscapes in rural and remote communities in Western Australia to create visually-charged works that capture the heart and essence of Australia’s largest state.

"It's really diverse; there's a lot of different mediums including photographs and a big focus on sound and language,” said Ms Clyne.
Artists such as Michael Bullock (VIC), Erin Coates and Anna Nazzari (WA), and Archana Hande (India), explore the idea of collective memory, as the source of competing narratives through which communities create new visions of their present and future.
"It's an interesting mix of cultures coming together to create art,” said Ms Clyne.
The exhibition is presented in partnership with the Western Australian Museum and will kick off with an exciting evening of music, canapes and cocktails in the Gallery Gardens.
The start date of the exhibition coincides with the Moree Plains Gallery’s unveiling of their new name, as part of a large-scale and thorough re-branding of the local gallery.
“This year is our 30th birthday, and in the lead-up our board and staff have spent three years thinking about what our organisation was when it began, what it’s been, what it is now and what we want it to be,” said Ms Clynes.
