This Friday, the Gallery will officially launch their new name and branding ahead of an exciting new era for the organisation.
Gallery director Vivien Clyne said the re-branding has been three years in the making.
“This year is our 30th birthday, and in the lead-up our board and staff have spent three years thinking about what our organisation was when it began, what it’s been, what it is now and what we want it to be,” she said.
“It’s a great time to not only refresh ourselves but what it means to our audience.
“We’re feeling very excited, it’s three years worth of work coming together.”
The re-branding will include a new name, new website and new signage which will not only reflect the more modern direction the Gallery plans to take in the future, but pays homage to the Gallery’s home – the 1911 Edwardian-style building which was originally a commercial bank.

While the new name won’t be revealed until the official launch on Friday evening, Ms Clyne said it’s the result of lots of hard work and planning by the Gallery board and staff.
“We spent a lot of time workshopping different options and looking at our strategic plan and what we want to do for the future, making sure it aligned with our values and mission statement,” she said.
“The re-brand and new name captures what we’re doing now and helps to align us better with big, nationally-recognised galleries.
“It’s also a really exciting time to refresh our website, taking a bigger chunk of the tourism economy.”
Over the past year, the Gallery has also undergone a significant makeover to make it more accessible and comfortable for art lovers around the region.
The renovations, which have been part of the Gallery’s strategic plan to upgrade the building, included a brand new insulated steel roof over the outdoor workshop area; modern upgrades to the old bathrooms, including a disabled access bathroom to accommodate the needs of clients and visitors with disabilities; and a fresh coat of paint throughout the inside.
To celebrate the re-branding, the Gallery invites everyone to the official launch at 6.30pm for a 7pm start on Friday, March 2 for an evening of music, canapes and cocktails. RSVP by Tuesday, February 27 by calling 6757 3320 or emailing moreeplainsgallery@bigpond.com.
Everyone is then invited to an open day on Saturday, March 3 from 10am to 2pm.
The open day will include plenty of fun, free activities for both children and adults, including kids’ activities and play area in the garden, an exhibition tour and artist talks and an art workshop for adults led by artist Michael Bullock.
