In conjunction with mental health month the session will be held at the Dhiiyaan Centre in Moree on Wednesday, October 4 from 10am until 12pm.
Guest speaker Dr Leanne Craze, AM, has a PhD in mental health and has contributed to mental health reform for over 30 years with a recent contribution being the National framework for recovery oriented mental health services.
Flourish Australia Moree manager Claire Gillan said the session would most suited carers, service providers and community members interested in increasing their understanding of the impacts of Mental Health.
“We are continuing to build an awareness of Mental Health issues within the Moree community and promoting how positive Mental Health can be achieved.
“One in four people have a mental health issue, but the fact is most with a lived experience can recover and lead independent, meaningful lives if they get the right help at the right time,” she said.
Flourish Australia supports nearly 50 people in the Moree community through a range of programs that cover housing, employment and community interaction.
More recently Flourish Australia has expanded and moved into also providing support to those with a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) package and is available to assist people seeking mental health support under the NDIS.
