It is the largest total ever raised at the biennial event.
“It was a great success,” organiser and Fairview board chairperson Joy Peachey said.
“It was a great day, everyone enjoyed it.”
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the outdoor luncheon set amongst Stahmann Farms’ pecan trees.
Attendees enjoyed delicious gourmet food catered by Julie and Paul Johnson and their band of volunteers and were entertained by interactive music comedy duo, the Swingin’ Martinis.
By all reports, the Swingin’ Martinis were a hit with everyone and had the crowd in stitches when they got members of the audience up to do Elvis impersonations.
People were even throwing money down their pants.
“The Swingin’ Martinis were fantastic … everybody loved them,” Ms Peachey said.
“They were great.”
Once again, the auction was a huge success, raising more than $39,000 alone.
There was also a silent auction and a raffle donated by McGregor Gourlay which was won by Bernadette Perry.
All money raised on the day will go towards the $2.5 million project to add eight more rooms on to the dementia ward at Fairview Retirement Village.
“This is just to kick it off,” Ms Peachey said.
Fairview CEO Brett Arthur said the fundraising effort is testament to the people of Moree.
“The generosity of the people that attended was wonderful,” he said.
“The money will go to a good cause.”
