The donation was handed over by directors and staff on Friday, March 11 and was made possible through various fundraising events held by the firm last year.
Rhodes Kildea commended the work carried out by the Moree Area Homelessness Service in the Moree district.
Byamee community awareness officer, Kristy Marquett, noted that the first week of August was Homeless Prevention Week.
“In light of this the Moree Area Homelessness Service are holding their third annual Hike for Homeless and sleep out events and after great success last year will be hosting their second annual trivia night.
“All proceeds will be going toward supporting victims of domestic violence by offering emergency accommodation and support,” she said.
Domestic violence occurs when someone who has a close personal relationship with you makes you feel afraid, powerless or unsafe. It can be physical, but can also be emotional and psychological. Anyone can experience domestic violence.
It happens across communities, ages, cultures and sexes. The Moree Area Homelessness Service thanked Rhodes Kildea Lawyers for their generous donation.
“It is with generous sponsorship like this that the service is able to continue to support those in our community that are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.”
