The Chris Lehmann Trust Young Achiever of the Year Award recognises dedicated, young individuals who actively contribute to the development of the Australian cotton industry.
The local agronomist is excited about the future of Australia’s cotton industry.
Managing the Collarenebri and Narrabri branches of B&W, Mr Dawson works hard to promote cotton in the western regions.
He has been instrumental in making changes to important industry matters such as resistance auditing and the expansion of the dryland cotton industry.
“It’s exciting to have been nominated as a finalist,” Mr Dawson said.
“There are many young Australians working hard to advance the cotton industry,” he said.
Cotton Australia CEO, Adam Kay, said the Cotton Industry Awards celebrated the dedication and success of individuals, like Ben, who were committed to improving the cotton industry in Australia.

The winner will be announced at the cotton awards dinner to be held in Narrabri next Wednesday.
The recipient will receive a $5000 bursary on behalf of the Chris Lehmann Trust to develop new skills and expertise in a subject nominated by the recipient to continue their positive contribution to the industry through their professional development.
The other finalists in this year’s cotton awards are:
• Grower of the Year and High Achiever of the Year - Peter and Caroline Tuohey (Daisy Lodge – Carathool), Jason Sinclair (Bengerang, Condamine), Scott and Jo McCalman (Jedburgh Farming, Gunnedah), Graham and Kylie Cook (Turkey Lagoon, Boggabilla), Andrew and Rob Newell (Korolea Farming, Boggabilla) and Tristram Hertslet and Robert Reardon (Reardon Farms, Talwood).
• Chris Lehmann Trust Young Achiever of the Year - Ross Burnett (Emerald) and Ryan Pratten (Narromine).
• Researcher of the Year - Stephen Yeates (CSIRO, Ayr), Sandra Williams (CSIRO Agriculture Flagship, Narrabri), and Geoff Baker and Colin Tann (CSIRO Agriculture Flagship, Narrabri).
