Captain Bruce Legge CSC RAN will be in town during the day to participate in local events.
Capt Legge was raised in Victoria and joined the Royal Australian Navy as a seaman officer in 1986. Following two operation deployments to the Arabian Gulf the lieutenant started a air intercept controller course and was posted to HMAS Newcastle.
During 1996 he completed a principal warfare officer course specialising in air warfare and was posted to HMAS Melbourne.
Three years later he was posted to HMAS Watson and in 2000 was promoted to lieutenant commander starting a two-year exchange in San Diego, USA as the sole planning officer for an exercise which he was awarded the US Meritorious Service Medal.
He returned to Australia in 2003 and the following year was involved in two border protection deployments.
He travelled to the UK between 2005 and 2006.
He commanded HMAS Warramunga in 2009 and 2010 for which he was awarded the Conspicuous Service Cross.
His post command appointments have included working in the Navy’s career management agency and upon his promotion to Capt he was deployed to Bahrain for 12 months.
In post-graduate studies Capt Legge has completed two Master of Arts degrees.
He is a keen AFL follower and cricket fan. He also enjoys jogging, swimming and social tennis on occasion.
