The annual top ten shoot-out, played on Thursday, December 3, saw Taunton and Shane Brooker left standing at the ninth hole after the other competitors dropped off one by one.
However, neither of the final two scored a point on the last hole, so they had to have a putt-off to determine the winner.
Taunton ended up winning the putt-off and claimed ultimate victory.
Shoot-out coordinator Howard Meppem said it was a great day.
"Everyone enjoyed themselves," he said.
"They look forward to playing it every year."

The shoot-out runs from July to December each year, with about 50 veterans golfers participating each Thursday.
All competitors tee-off from the first hole and the person furthest from the hole drops out until two people are left to play the ninth and final hole.
Each week points are accumulated and the top 10 scorers over the six months then come together for the top ten shoot-out, to determine the overall winner of the competition.
This year's top 10, in points order, were Graham Maynard, Tim Evans, Adrian King, Gary Taunton, Robert Conroy, Robert Morley, Peter Taunton, Shane Brooker, John Deakin and Guy Hovenden.
Moree Veterans Golf Club would like to thank Major Metals for their sponsorship of the competition since 2013.
